the "who"

Born and raised in WA, Karen returned to the PNW in 2017 after living abroad and on the East Coast. Karen has a unique professional background, having spent time as a historian, an educator, an archivist, and an all-around nonprofit maven. As a result, Karen is well-trained in recognizing and predicting social trends, communicating complex concepts effectively, and just generally making sense of the world.

Karen holds an MA in American Cultural History from CWU and an MSLIS with a concentration in Archives Management from Simmons College, Boston. While living in Boston, Karen worked, interned, and volunteered with a wide variety of nonprofit organizations, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Thoreau Institute at Walden Woods. Back in B'ham, Karen has continued her work with a marketing and communications focus within local nonprofit arts organizations.

When not working, Karen enjoys spending time outside with her hubby - hiking, biking, paddleboarding, reading in the sun, frolicking in nature, and stopping to smell the flowers (when the pollen count is down). She also enjoys baking, puzzling (it's a verb now), and placating her feline baby, Kenobi.
